It's a delightful way to explore the museum’s collections while also soaking up the picturesque surroundings of the Ryedale countryside.
Scarborough’s Goldwing Light Parade is a true spectacle, and it’s returning on the 14th September 2024. This event draws hundreds of Honda Goldwing motorbikes from across the country, decorated with an array of lights that illuminate the streets in a display like no other.
The display itself is a sight to behold, but the event is about more than just the bikes. It it a full day of live music, stalls, a grand parade and fireworks display, all in the name of raising money for local charities.
If you’re in Yorkshire this autumn, the Light Parade is not to be missed.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway offers a journey back in time, as its beautifully restored steam trains chug through the stunning landscapes of the North York Moors, from the market town of Pickering to coastal Whitby. During your travels, you can enjoy seasonal menus crafted from exceptional locally sourced produce with your family to complete the experience.

For those who prefer their adventures to be more serene and nature-focused, a visit to Mallyan Spout Waterfall is the ideal spot for you. It might not be an exciting or glamorous event, and it will certainly last far beyond the year 2024, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth a visit this year.
In fact, we’d highly recommend it.
Located near the village of Goathland, this stunning waterfall is one of the tallest in the North York Moors, plunging 70 feet into a rocky gorge.
The walk to Mallyan Spout is an experience in itself, taking you through ancient woodlands and alongside babbling brooks. It’s a relatively easy walk, making it suitable for all ages, and once completed, you’ll be rewarded with a truly breathtaking sight.
